For times of fear

Psalm 23:4,6 – ‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.’

John 14:27 – ‘Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’

Psalm 91:10,11 – ‘No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.’

Proverbs 29:25 – ‘The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.’

Psalm 27:1 – ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?’

Psalm 91:1,2,4 – ‘He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.’

For times of anger

Ephesians 4:26 – ‘”Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on you wrath.’

James 1:19,20 – ‘So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.’

Proverbs 15:1,18 – ‘A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger allays contention.’

Psalm 37:8 – ‘Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret – it only causes harm.’

Ecclesiastes 7:9 – ‘Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.’

Colossians 3:8 – ‘But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language our of your mouth.’

For times of discouragement

Hebrews 10:35,36 – ‘Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.’

Philippians 1:6 – ‘…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.’

Galatians 6:9 – ‘And let us not grow weary in while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’

Psalm 27:14 – ‘Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait I say, on the Lord!’

Philippians 4:6,7 – ‘Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.’

2 Corinthians 4:8,9 – ‘We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.’

Psalm 138:7 – ‘Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand will save me.’

Psalm 31:24 – ‘Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.’

Psalm 4:3 – ‘But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; the Lord will hear when I call to Him.’

Isaiah 43:1 – ‘But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are mine.’

For times of frustration

Isaiah 43:2 – ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.’

Isaiah 50:7 – ‘For the Lord God will help Me; therefore I will not be disgraced; therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.’

Psalm 138:8 – ‘The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Psalm 37:5-7 – ‘Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.’

Philippians 1:6 – ‘…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.’

For times of depression

Isaiah 61:1-3 – ‘The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.’

Romans 8:26,27 – ‘Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.’

Philippians 4:8 – ‘Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.’

1 Peter 5:6,7 – ‘Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.’

Psalm 34:15,17 – ‘The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.’

Revelation 21:4 – ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’

For times of temptation

Luke 22:31,32 – ‘And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have to returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”’

John 16:33 – ‘These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.’

Romans 8:37 – ‘Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.’

1 Corinthians 10:13 – ‘No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.’

Hebrews 2:18 – ‘For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.’

James 1:2,3 – ‘My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.’

1 Peter 1:6,7 – ‘In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.’
