Do you remember that time when the Lord blessed you, spoke to you, or used someone to help you in a way that you were expecting? Isn't it great when that happens? In the Bible, there are examples of how God operates in a manner that at times is unconventional and even appears foolish according to worldly wisdom:
  • Used a donkey to speak to His rebellious prophet Balaam (Numbers 22:28).

  • Enabled His people to conquer Jericho by using a prostitute - Rahab - to hide the men sent to spy     out the land.

  • Provided for His prophet Elijah by using ravens to carry him meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening (1 Kings 17:4-6).

  • Used a young shepherd boy - David - to slay a giant that the whole army of Israel was afraid to fight (1 Samuel 17:49).

  • Scaled down Israel's army from over 300,000 men to a mere 300 so He would get the glory when He led them to victory over the Midianites (Judges 7:1-7).

  • Jesus got money from the mouth of a fish in order to pay His taxes (Matthew 17:24-27). If I could do that I would be at sea everyday!

God isn't limited to any particular method or formula. He's too awesome and dynamic for that. Let us open up our minds and hearts to believe that God can and will move in our lives in a way that we cannot foresee or understand. This is one of the joys of serving the Lord - to know that He can surprise us at times, and that He's not conformed to or limited by what mankind thinks He should do. God isn't limited in His ways of accomplishing His will in our lives. For example, He can explain a spiritual principle to us using our children, our enemies or even pets if we have them. Don't expect Him to do things the way you want it, or else you will miss our on experiencing His unlimited power, wisdom, and love in your life. That's why He says "My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are My ways your ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8,9).
